1. How do the GLW Oil Filtration systems work?

GLW systems clean the contaminated oil in 2 stages, filtration & evaporation. Stage 1 (Filtration) -- The contaminated oil passes through our replaceable filter medium, made of long-strand unbleached cotton, capable of removing solid contaminants larger than 1 micron in size. Stage 2 (Evaporation) -- The oil will then pass through a heated evaporation chamber, where the liquid and gaseous contaminants are evaporated and vented out via the vapour valve. By removing water from the oil, the formation of sulphuric acid is prevented. After the cleaning stages, the cleaned oil returns to the engine reservoir (sump) by gravity.

2. Can the GLW Oil Filtration systems be used on any engine?

The GLW Oil Filtration systems can be installed on almost any engine such in automobiles, marine and industrial equipment. The GLW Oil Filtration systems works well with engines using diesel, petrol, CNG, NGV, etc. It, however, cannot be installed on engines without a pressurized lubrication system, such as 2-stroke motors, where lubricating oil is pre-mixed with the fuel.

3. What is the cost of the GLW Oil Filtration systems and its replacement filters?

As the prices may fluctuate due to currency differences and shipping charges, it is best if you refer to our dealers for the latest prices and updates.

4. What type of oil can be used with GLW Oil Filtration systems?

All types of oil including synthetic and mineral oils can be used with our systems.

5. How will the GLW Oil Filtration systems affect oil additives contained in the oil?

Laboratory tests have proven that GLW Oil Filtration systems will not filter or use up the additives in the oil. The additives used in our standard filter are compatible with all additives in use today.

6. What are the contaminants normally found in the lubricating oils?

The main contaminants in lubricating oil is normally sulphuric acid, water, carbon particles, ferrous & non-ferrous metal particles and other particles found in the air such as dust and dirt.

7. Does the colour of the oil have any bearing on its lubrication ability?

Most diesel & petrol engine lubrication oil will turn black within a few minutes of operation due to the carbon particles from the combustion process but its lubrication ability is not affected. The only accurate way to determine the oil's lubricating value or contamination level is through laboratory test.

8. Can the GLW Oil Filtration systems be installed on a new engine?

The GLW Oil Filtration systems will not cause any problems to the engine, even if it is a new engine as the main purpose is to filter and clean the engine oil of any contaminants.

9. How does lubricating oil becomes contaminated with water, acids and other contaminants?

The oil is contaminated mainly through 2 sources, combustion and condensation. The combustion process creates sulphur dioxide and carbon particles in the oil. When mixed with water, the sulphur dioxide will turn into sulphuric acid, affecting the lubricating and cleaning properties of the oil. Water gets into the oil through the form of condensation, which happens when the engine is not running and cools down. The temperature difference between the engine and the air causes water vapour to condense to liquid state.

10. How does GLW Oil Filtration systems help to increase the engine life?

Studies have shown that the majority of all engine wear is caused by particles between 5 to 20 microns. It was also established by the Society of Automotive Engineers in 1988 that high efficiency filters can reduce up to 70% of wear & tear in engines. The GLW Oil Filtration systems are able to filter contaminants particles up to 1 micron size in the engine oil, effectively reducing the rate of wear & tear and extending engine life.

11. Will installation of the GLW Oil Filtration systems on my engine or other type of equipment affect the warranty?

Our GLW Oil Filtration systems will not in any way modify nor affect the engine. However it is recommended to check with your car dealer regarding their warranty policies.

12. Will the installation of GLW Oil Filtration systems have any adverse effect on my engine and equipment?

The GLW Oil Filtration system is a bypass system that taps the dirty oil from the engine to clean it and return back to the oil sump. It is perfectly safe to install the GLW Oil Filtration systems on your engines and equipment and will not have any adverse effect on your engine.

13. How can I be sure that the GLW Oil Filtration systems is operating correctly and cleaning the oil?

You can perform a simple visual check to ensure the GLW Oil Filtration systems is operating correctly by looking at the flow gauge and make sure the oil level is roughly mid-way between the high and low points. Another visual check is to ensure that the engine oil is not leaking from the casing.

14. Will the GLW Oil Filtration systems cause a drop in the engine pressure?

The GLW Oil Filtration systems will not cause a drop in engine pressure as it is a bypass filtration system. If the engine pressure is low, there might be a chance that the engine oil level is too low or the OEM filter is choked.

15. Should I change the existing oil when installing GLW Oil Filtration Systems on my engine or equipment?

It is recommended that you do an oil change when installing GLW Oil Filtration Systems to ensure optimal performance for the engine or equipment.

16. How should I choose to install an FS System or a GHH System on my machinery?

There are a few factors that determine which GLW Oil Filtration Systems to be used: a) Oil Sump Capacity b) Type of Application c) Feasibility of Installation Please kindly contact our sales staff for advice on which system is suitable for your application.

17. What is the largest oil capacity that the GLW Systems can handle in an engine?

The GLW Oil Filtration systems can virtually handle an infinite engine oil sump capacity given that there is sufficient space and power supply to support the systems.

18. How do I tell the filter for the GLW Oil Filtration systems needs to be replaced?

When the amount of oil in the flow gauge reaches the low mark, it means the filter is choked and needs to be replaced soon.

19. What is the flow rate of the GLW Oil Filtration systems?

The flow rate for all GLW Oil Filtration systems is 40 litres/hr, except for GHH280PH and GHH380PH, which is 80 litres/hr and 120 litres/hr respectively.

20. Will the heating element of the GLW Oil Filtration systems malfunction and cause the engine oil to boil and burn?

The maximum operating temperature for the heating element is 95°C ± 3°C and the boiling point for most lubrication oil is above 200°C. Even in a malfunction, the heating element is designed not to be able to reach temperatures above 100°C.

21. What is the frequency that I must change the oil filters?

As for the useful life-span for each filter, 2 variables need to be taken into consideration: a) The type (water, particles, etc…) of contamination & the seriousness of the contamination. Normally, this could be ascertained through a comprehensive sample lab testing. b) The quantity of oil to be filtered. Thus, depending on consideration ‘a’, you should be able to estimate the useful life-span of the replacement filters.

22. Do I still need to replace my OEM filters after installing the GLW Oil Filtration Systems?

Yes, however it would need to be changed only after 4 times of the manufacturer specifications as our filter prolongs the lifespan of the OEM filters.

23. Is there any warranty for the GLW Oil Filtration systems and GHH Mobile Systems?

Yes, all our products except the replacement oil filters come with a one-year warranty.

24. Is it difficult to change the filter of the GLW Oil Filtration systems?

The changing of the filter is simple and will only take a few minutes to replace. If you are unsure, you can always proceed to a trained mechanic or technician to help you to change the filter.
